Welcome to the Willow and Stone Bookshop Collection
February 5, 2026 | Helen Gunn

I’ve always loved the way books can comfort us and give us space to pause. That’s exactly why I decided to create the Willow and Stone Bookshop, a small, curated collection of books that reflect the same values at the heart of my reflexology practice, slowing down, nurturing the mind and body, and finding calm in everyday life.
Clients who have visited my garden studio may have noticed my bookshelf, full of carefully chosen titles. These books add to the warmth of the space and each one says something about Willow and Stone’s ethos, gentle, reflective, nature-led, and restorative. My online bookshop grew naturally from that collection, offering the same sense of calm and thoughtfulness to anyone exploring it.
The bookshop is organised around four key categories, each chosen with care to align with Willow and Stone’s ethos:
Mental Health & Neurodiversity
Books in this category explore understanding ourselves and others, especially in the realms of mental wellbeing and neurodiverse experiences. They offer insight, validation, and practical support, gentle companions for anyone navigating anxiety, burnout, depression, or simply the overwhelm of a busy mind, helping them feel seen, understood, and supported. One I especially love is Philippa Perry’s How to Stay Sane, a thoughtful guide to managing the everyday pressures on our minds. I also have a soft spot for the graphic novel Couch Therapy, which offers a creative and accessible insight into therapy and mental health, blending humour and understanding in a unique way.
Nature & Spirituality
These titles invite connection with the natural world and with something larger than ourselves. They encourage mindfulness, reflection, and grounding, reminding us of our rhythms, cycles, and the quiet magic in everyday life. This collection includes books on the healing power of nature and spiritual practices. One of my favourites is Emma Griffin’s Find Your Soul Path: Discover the Magical Life Within, a gentle guide to reconnecting with your inner self, discovering purpose, and embracing the magical rhythms of life.
Slow Living & Lifestyle
Here you’ll find books that champion ease over speed, depth over busyness. They are guides to living gently, nurturing your body and mind, and creating a life that allows for rest, reflection, and simple joys. You’ll find titles exploring the Japanese art of happiness, mindful routines, and decluttering your home to create a calmer, more peaceful mind, helping everyday life feel lighter and more restorative. A personal favourite is Francesc Miralles and Hector Garcia’s Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life, which explores how finding your personal purpose can bring balance, meaning, and joy to daily living.
Creativity & Mindful Hobbies
This collection celebrates making and creating, not for achievement, but for pleasure, curiosity, and wellbeing. From journaling and crafts to mindful hobbies, these books support creativity as a restorative practice, encouraging focus, calm, and small moments of joy, reflection, and discovery. One I especially love is Stephen Fry’s The Ode Less Travelled: A Guide to Writing Poetry, which blends wit, guidance, and inspiration for anyone wishing to explore poetry as a mindful, joyful practice.
The Willow and Stone Bookshop is more than a shop, it’s a quiet companion to the studio and the work I do in reflexology. Each book is chosen to support a slower, more thoughtful way of living, one that honours your mind, your body, and your need for calm.
Reading can sometimes feel challenging for those of us with busy, overwhelmed minds. A racing mind or drifting focus can make books seem impossible, but neurodiversity or mental health challenges don’t mean reading isn’t possible, it simply means a gentler, slower approach helps. Tiny goals, short chapters, and following what truly interests you can make reading feel achievable and restorative.
Many of the books in the Willow and Stone Bookshop are chosen with this in mind, selected not only for their content, but for the way they are designed and laid out, often broken into smaller, more digestible chapters that allow you to dip in and out without pressure. This mirrors the philosophy I bring to reflexology, slow, supportive, and nervous-system led, helping the mind and body find calm.

Where to find me
I’m easy to reach on foot, by bike, or by public transport. If you enjoy a canal-side stroll, I’m located between Sale and Brooklands Metrolink stops. If you’re coming by car, there’s space for one extra vehicle on my driveway, and it’s also free to park on the road.
I look forward to connecting with you and welcoming you to the garden studio.
Contact me
I’d love to hear from you. The easiest way to reach me is by email or WhatsApp message — this means I can respond thoughtfully between client sessions. Due to the nature of my work, I’m rarely able to answer calls in the moment.
